A WDC Chapter System Safety Society All Members Meeting was held 5:00PM Thursday 12 May 2016 at the SAIC Conference Center, located at 16442 Commerce Dr # 100, King George, VA 22485 <map>. The month's speakers were Mr. Michel Goings and Dr. Lisa Chavez and their topic was "Human Factors and Safety Collaboration".
Mr. Michael Goings holds a MS in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Currently, he is employed as a human factors engineer at Basic Commerce and Industries (BCI). He has worked on projects using the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) to model complex systems, requirements analysis and task analysis. His interests include cognitive systems engineering, sociotechnical systems, and parametric and nonparametric statistics.
Dr. Lisa Chavez holds a PhD in Experimental Psychology from Texas Tech University, and completed a B.A in Political Science and Psychology at Baylor University. She is a senior human factors engineer at Basic Commerce and Industries (BCI). She has worked on several command and control projects evaluating displays and space layout to determine the optimal configuration for human performance. She has used the Top-Down Functional Analysis (TDFA) methodology and related analyses to identify and define information needs for successful human performance or to determine manning or training estimates.
