WARREN NAYLOR

These efforts have included supporting a wide base of customers that includes but is not limited to FAA, DoD (USN, USMC, USAF, and US Army), Missile Defense Agency, Postal Service, DARPA, NASA, programs in countries such as Australia, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Greece, Italy, Pakistan, and most of NATO, et cetera).  Mr. Naylor understands the terminology differences and nuances between all of these customers and is actively working to minimize these to allow for more sharing of technologies while still being able to communicate residual risk in a manner all customers can understand.

Mr. Naylor is known for his innovative solutions to the issues facing system safety and has published 12 foundation system safety technical papers on subjects including Commercial Off-the-Shelf, programmatic risk, cost and schedules negative impact on system safety among others.   He has also collaborated in the writing of many Government Papers and Guidance including being a co-author of RTCA DO-278 and most recently GEIA-STD-0010.  

Mr. Naylor has served as President Elect of the Washington, DC Chapter of the International System Safety Society in 2003 and as President (2004 through 2006) at which time he was the chairperson of the historic 25th International System Safety Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Lastly, Mr. Naylor teaches system safety, system safety ethics, and software safety engineering classes to other industry professionals and for other Societies (i.e., teaches a System Safety Module for the Baltimore Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and occasionally performs guest speaking appearances for other societies as well.  

Mr. Naylor is a long standing senior member of the ISSS and expects to become eligible for Fellow Membership soon.  He has worked in the system safety engineering trenches as a practitioner, consultant, and educator and possesses the unique and varied skill set absolutely required as President of the International System Safety Society.
Biography

Mr. Naylor possesses over 32+ years of system engineering experience that includes software engineering, field engineering, and system safety engineering (SSE) experience with the last 15+ years dedicated solely to system safety engineering.  Mr. Naylor began his SSE career at BAE Systems he became the North America Lead System Safety Engineer.  Mr. Naylor moved to Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems in 2004 serving as a System Safety Consultant Engineer maintaining technical system safety oversight over all of our 300+ programs.  Mr. Naylor’s varied work experience includes working on a wide variety of programs from undersea systems to space systems and virtually every type of system in between.
